UPDATE: On February 3, 2017, during a daily press briefing, Sean Spicer, press secretary, fielded a question from the press regarding “the problem with synthetic fentanyl being cooked up with labs in the Northeast.” Spicer recognized the “major problem” that is the opioid crisis, but then only discussed how the wall would prevent illegal drugs from entering our southern border. Spicer did not address the interior problem—i.e. synthetic fentanyl and other opiates being manufactured inside the United States.
